Angel Reese Delivers Two Powerful Words to Former Indiana Fever Star on Wednesday

Angel Reese had a brief but impactful reaction on Wednesday to a post by former Indiana Fever player Dewanna Bonner, initially reported by Athlon Sports. The Chicago Sky have already ruled out Reese for the Thursday game against the Atlanta Dream due to a back injury, marking her fourth consecutive missed game, with no clear timeline for her return.

Despite her injury, Reese has stayed active on social media. On Wednesday, she responded to a new Instagram post by Phoenix Mercury star Dewanna Bonner, who shared a photo of her recent game attire. Reese commented simply, “So gorgeous!!,” drawing attention from both fans and fellow WNBA players.

This short message highlights the strong connections Reese has built with veteran players across the league. While the exact nature of her relationship with Bonner is unclear, Bonner demonstrated support for Reese earlier in the season, during an incident involving “hate fan comments” targeted at players from the Sky and Fever, emphasizing zero tolerance for such behavior.

Other league veterans also express admiration for Reese, including Minnesota Lynx MVP frontrunner Napheesa Collier, whom Reese looks up to as a leader. Bonner’s teammate Carly Copper has also spoken positively about Reese recently.

Bonner, who signed with the Mercury as a free agent this offseason, previously faced boos from Fever fans when she returned to Gainbridge Field House with the Mercury on July 30. She will face her former team again on Thursday but expects a more supportive environment, as the Mercury host Indiana at PHX Arena.

Fan Take: This update is important for WNBA fans as it highlights both the physical challenges top players like Angel Reese face and the strong camaraderie within the league. Understanding these dynamics enriches the fan experience and underscores the sport’s growing culture of respect and resilience.
