The Scots actually grew up as a GERS fan and visited Ibrox regularly as a young man, eventually playing for the club from 1967 to 1969. Ferguson never left the Rangers tie and shares the story of his early football memories with Ibrox.
“Previously, when I was younger I always went to Bloom Lawn Roadend. It was only teenagers who entered the end of the Rangers before starting to go to Ibrox in 1949 when I was eight years old.
“We had a great team back then. The famous iron curtain team. Young, Shaw, McCall, Woodburn, Cox, it felt like it was there forever. You always played Willie Waddell and Willie Thornton as well.
He regularly appeared in Celtic during the Rangers and Glasgow as Aberdeen bosses, visiting Scotland in the Champions League on the UTD side of the star-studded man.
Ferguson and the Red Devils didn’t have much luck on their two visits to Celtic Park. They lost 1-0 in 2006, 1-1, and in 2008 they drew 1-1.
Ferguson chooses between Celtic and Rangers for Best Stadium
Ferguson spoke in the past in comments shared by Celtic’s official website, choosing Celtic Park as the “best” atmosphere he has experienced as a manager at Ibrox and other iconic stadiums in Europe.
“Parkhead is the best I’ve experienced. The other day I said that Vidic and Ronaldo were the best atmosphere I’ve ever played. I’m credited to the supporters as they haven’t developed half the roof.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo also said in his time at Mann utd, surprised by the atmosphere of Parkhead:
“Celtic fans are incredible, and it’s always great to play there.”
