New Leeds signature blown away by the “surprising” Eland Road vibe

Leeds Summer Signature Gabriel Gudmunsonson said Elland Road’s “wow” factor helped his team win the Premier League.

Lukas Nmecha’s controversial late penalty sealed a 1–0 victory over Everton in his first match on top flight after a two-year absence. The atmosphere on the LS11 reached fever pitch, with Sweden signing the £10 million reported from the reel in July, acknowledging that fans are key to their survival potential.

Gudmundsson was surprised by Elland Road Noise

After his impressive debut, Gudmundsson told LUTV:

“We need to have this vibe, and it was amazing, and it was so good that we need to push ourselves up.

“It makes a difference. Obviously, you’re focused on the game, but it’s really nice to hear the crowd scream and hear the song.

“It adds a little bit of a percentage – they need to keep doing it, to work, to run, to fight more.

“In the Premier League, we’re going to suffer, but we need to suffer together.”

Gudmundsson said three points of the opener are important for Leeds, with the next two league fixtures taking place against Arsenal and Newcastle before the first international break in September.

“It was my first game and it was really important to get started well,” the 26-year-old left back added. “I know what it means to score three points.

“We know that the two games ahead will be really difficult.”

Leeds is waiting to learn the full range of Ethan Ampadu’s injuries after seeing a late second half challenge by Tim Irogbunam finally forced their captain, but one thing they certainly know is that they have a budding superstar from Gudmanson, who was one of the best performers of the night.

The former reel star covered over 10 kilometres of the night and recorded one of the best sofa score ratings on the pitch thanks to four clearances, two intercepts, four successful dribblings and two successful crosses.

Everton boss David Moyes was furious at the penalty decision of umpire Chris Kabana, supported by Val after it was determined that James Tarkowski had been handled after leaning against Anton Stuck’s deflected shot.

But Everton was barely threatened. Daniel Fark knows that if he can live miserable lives for all other visitors like Toffee, his team can keep going. Meanwhile, the boss has a new weapon to use immediately after Leeds agrees to a deal to sign AC Milan’s Stickernoa Okafor.
