Arsenal forward Leandro Torosard reportedly agreed to a new contract with wage increases at Emirates Stadium.

According to Athletic, despite some speculation about the future of Belgian International, he appears to be not nearing leaving to join other clubs.

The report adds that Torosad has agreed to a new deal that will see him earn higher wages even if the length of his contract is not extended.

This is a slightly surprising move by Arsenal, but it appears that it is being done to show his worth to players on Mikel Arteta’s team.

The Torosard had a major impact on his time at Arsenal, even if it was an unused replacement to Manchester United over the weekend.

Arsenal signed Noni Madueke this summer to bolster midfield options during the attack, which could likely limit the minutes of Torosad this season.

Still, it seems now that the AFC is willing to keep the 30-year-old, who has scored 28 goals in 124 games for North Londoners since joining from Brighton.

Given Gabriel Martinelli’s poor performance to Man UTD, it’s probably easy to imagine Trossard still getting the chance to play again soon.

What Charles Watts told us about Trosard’s future

Columnist Charles Watts also discussed the situation with Trossard, saying, “Arsenal isn’t trying to push him aggressively towards the exit door. In fact, they know that they have given him the opportunity to sign a new contract over the past 12 months.

“It seems nothing is coming near when it comes to the Trossard exit, but if nothing happens, Mikel Arteta is happy that Belgian International will stick.

“He’s been a great signature since he arrived from Brighton, but he still has a lot to offer when he’s on the pitch, but the problem with Torosad is that he may not be on the pitch as much as he wants this season.
