Leeds United saw it sign a new attacker on the deadline, but missed it to rival Premier League clubs.

Whites headed for the first international break of the Premier League season on top of Manchester City and Newcastle United, but Daniel Fark wanted more signings before Monday’s deadline.

Leeds, who scored four points from the first three games, had yet to score from open play in the Premier League, bringing Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin with free transfers.

Noah Okafor added a marquee in the final third, but Farke urged 49ers Enterprises to bring more quality.

“I don’t play the game. Everyone at the club says: “Okay, we want to try everything to give us the best team.” Everyone wants to add more quality players on offense.

“We showed we were competitive in the first three games, but that’s difficult (after that). There’s no moaning either, but until the last hour of the window, we have to try everything to bring more quality.”

It remains to be seen whether Fark will win his wish in January, or whether he will have to resort to Nmecha, Calvert-Lewin, Okafor, Jack Harrison, Dan James, Brenden Aaronson and Wilfried Gnonto.

Leeds was a huge fan of Dylan Bakuwa, who had £35 million.

Linked to the move to Leeds over the summer, Strasbourg’s Wingerdilan Bakwa, who remained on the white radar with the remaining time of the transfer period.

Leeds was thought to be in pole position to sign the attackers before a 5-0 defeat to Arsenal, but Nottingham Forest came for the 23-year-old and sealed the deal later that day.

According to Leedslive’s Transfer Deadline Day blog, Bakwa has a big admiration for Leeds, and the £35 million deal would have been pretty much a record from what Club paid Georginio Rutter in 2023.

“Strasbourg winger Dilane Bakwa is still available and we know Leeds is a big admirer of the players. Nottingham Forest is said to have rejected several bids against Bakwa in this window.”

As you can see, Bakuwa has been compared to summer transfer target Igor Paichao by Harrison, James and even football transfers, and Leeds ultimately missed his service.
