Liverpool had a very productive summer transfer window, but they were unable to finalize all the business they needed. Mark Guech’s contract fell apart at the last minute, but there is still uncertainty about the future of fellow defender Ibrahima Conate.
Konate currently holds the rankings in the final 12 months of his Liverpool contract, and in January he will be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with other clubs.
Real Madrid lies to wait, as Liverpool’s Ai Ibrahima Connate talks about it
Earlier this week, Conate was reported to have rejected Liverpool’s latest contract offer, but hopes he will remain at Anfield for years to come. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Real Madrid could reach an agreement before attacking in January.
“Real Madrid has a real interest in the situation at Conate, but they don’t want to disrupt Liverpool. Liverpool has the chance to extend Ibrahi Maconate’s contract until September, October, November, December, and the end of the season.
“Despite the agreement between Liverpool and the players getting very close a year ago, these conversations have stopped as new details are being discussed. Real Madrid continues to think of Conate.”
It will be very interesting to see how Konate’s situation unfolds. Liverpool will be desperate to avoid repeating the situation for Trent Alexander Arnold from the beginning of this year, but at this stage it is highly likely that the two former teammates will be reunited at the Santiago Bernabeu. For now, the situation remains open and will greatly help the frustration of Anfield officials.
