Liverpool did a lot of business during the summer transfer period, but more transactions could have been made both at the arrival and exit. One of the players who were able to leave Anfield was Andy Robertson, who was replaced by Milo Squelquez as Arne Slot’s starting left back.

Over the summer, Robertson emerged as a major target for Atletico Madrid, but ultimately the deal was ruled out by all parties. And Scotland International opened on that episode.

Talking to the Herald, Robertson revealed he was considering moving away from Liverpool during the summer transfer period, but that wasn’t something he was actively trying to happen.

“Maybe at some point (I was thinking about leaving). I want to play the game and start a left-back. I have to keep pushing to create a level that I know I can. The international break was a good thing for me as I got two 90 minutes.

It was good for Liverpool that Robertson stayed, as games such as the weekend victory at Burnley showed just how important he was at Anfield. He may no longer be his number one choice at left back, but he plays a major role in playing in all competitions throughout the season.

Robertson may leave Liverpool next summer when his contract goes out, but for now he will remain part of Arne Slot’s team. He hopes for more honors whenever it is, before leaving Anfield.
