Liverpool won Atletico Madrid 3-2 in the UEFA Champions League early tonight.

Despite leading 2-0 within the first six minutes of the game, Liverpool found themselves on level conditions after 81 minutes. Two goals from Marcos Llorente and countless opportunities for the home team allowed the Spanish outfit to return to the game.

Virgil van Dyke scored a late winner on his side at stop time.

Liverpool scored in the four minutes of the game thanks to biased efforts from Andrew Robertson. They doubled their advantage a few minutes later through Mohamed Sarah.

Speaking to the media after the game, Robertson said: “I was just about to get into the Keeper’s line so he couldn’t see. It’s a great finish. Give me the Puskas Award now! But honestly, I didn’t know anything about it.

“We have a lot of new players. They need to settle down. It’s not easy to play for such a big club. They’re all doing really well. They’re the future. They’re what drives this club forward.

Liverpool delays it again

Liverpool has earned five late winners in all competitions this season, and it will be interesting to see if they can score a more comfortable victory in the coming weeks. They demonstrated an incredible mentality to win the game in the end, but it’s unsustainable and Liverpool needs to manage better in the future.

Overall, it was an impressive performance from Liverpool, and they created multiple opportunities. They managed to open Spanish clothes over and over again. They will need to be more clinical in the finish and translate their chances for upcoming matches.
