st. Andrews, Scotland – Robert McInteel won the Dunhill Links Championship in his long-standing European Tour title in his home country of Scotland after taking part in Team Europe’s victory at the Ryder Cup last week.

Macintyre did so at Carnoustie and Kingsbarns, shooting a third straight 6-under 66 on the old course at St Andrews, completing a four-stroke victory at the golf home.

The third round was postponed to Saturday due to stormy weather and the event took place. This is a Proam – 54 hole tournament that has played on more than three of Scotland’s top link courses.

McIntyre, who finished the week with an 18-under par, won the Scotland Open last year at the Renaissance Club. He scored 1½ points for the European who won the Ryder Cup at Beth Page Black last week. McIntyre encountered a much more hostile situation than he returned home this week.

Another member of Team Europe, defending champion Tyrrell Hutton shot 65 at St Andrews, jumping into second place. It had one stroke more than John Parry (66 at St Andrews) and Richard Stern (71 at Carnaughty).

New York’s top European goalscorer Tommy Fleetwood shot 70 on the old course with four points and finished 9 under with nine strokes behind McIntyre.

Among the celebrities playing Proam were Bill Murray, Michael Douglas and Katherine Zeta Jones, while Hockey’s Great Wayne Gretzky had sports royalty.
