The Glasgow Rangers officially confirmed the departure of manager Russell Martin on Sunday night after the Ibrox side failed to win the sixth victory in Scotland’s seven premiership matches.
The former Scotland International only won five of five of the 17 games he handled the Rangers.
Martin only didn’t get enough wins to win the Ibrox crowd during his brief tenure in Glasgow, and the club made a decision early in the season.
A title-winning manager who is passionate about the Rangers work
Now attention is focused on his successor. Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart have to find the right manager for Ibrox to get the season back on track.
According to football insiders, Stephen Gerrard will jump at the opportunity to make a “sensational” return to Glasgow to manage the Ranger once more.
The report argues that Light Blues will discuss potential moves of English managers outside of work as they sit down to identify Martin’s long-term alternatives.
Gerrard adds that he is one of the “primary” candidates for the job at this time, but the outlet has not named any of the other candidates for the role.
Stewart and Telwell were able to rock the Ibrox once again by gaining fans and bringing Liverpool legend back to the club to bring in a second stint in the dugout.
Why is Stephen Gerrard rocking Ibrox again?
The Rangers welcomed Dundee United in the premiership in their first match after an international break, and if Gerrard returns to the sidelines, the home crowd could sway due to the clash.
It may be a welcome for British tacticians about four years after their migration to Aston Villa, which came after a very successful time on the pitch.
After all, he is the Light Blues title winner. No manager has won the club’s premier title since unlocking the trophy at the end of the 2020/21 campaign. Giovanni van Bronkhorst, Michael Beale, Philip Clement, Barry Ferguson and Russell Martin all failed where he succeeded.

As you can see from the table above, Gerard, who is in charge of Gerard’s league’s GERS, was barely wrong, losing one game and turning GERS into a winning opportunity.
The former villa boss, once called “amazing” by Glenn Johnson, knows what the Ranger is, knows what the supporters want to see, and knows how to win the premiere.
Giorard is the closest Light Blues can reach a proven manager given his success at his previous club, and that’s why he can be the safest option Stewart and Selwell bring in.
It’s also why the club can shake Ibrox again due to a clash with Dundee United, as fans know he’s a proven tactician who can get his team back on track and support him accordingly.
