  • Aftermath of the dismissal of coach Evangelos Marinakis by Ange Postecoglou
  • Who will replace Ange Postecoglou at Nottingham Forest?

Nottingham Forest have decided to sack Ange Postecoglou as manager after just eight games.

The sacking comes shortly after Nottingham Forest lost 3-0 at home to Chelsea earlier today, making it their eighth consecutive defeat under the Australians.

This dismal run was the worst for a Nottingham Forest manager in 100 years and the pressure was mounting on the former Spurs man. The pressure was clear from Ange’s verbal abuse to the press before the match.

There were rumors that defeat to Enzo Maresca’s side could lead to his immediate sacking, and that’s exactly what happened at the City Ground.

According to the Daily Briefing, Ange was sacked just 10 minutes after the full-time whistle.

Evangelos Marinakis was seen looking frustrated in the stands, disappearing from his seat after falling behind by two points.

The report claims this is an indication of what will happen next. Immediately after the full-time whistle, reports emerged that he had been sacked, which was later confirmed.

Reliable journalist Ben Jacobs revealed how Angers reacted to his dismissal, with the Australian saying a short farewell and leaving the stadium.

Jacobs reported to X: “Immediately after the Chelsea defeat, Evangelos Marinakis contacted me and we said a short goodbye before Postecoglou left the ground.”

And TNT Sports reporter Jules Breach gave viewers detailed insight into the aftermath of the firing. She revealed how Forest players were taken to the dressing room and then to the boardroom.

Postecoglou was in the locker room with the players, but when the players came out to go to the boardroom, Ange went in another direction.

She said:

“After the interview, I imagine Morgan Gibbs-White will be taken to the locker room with the players and then everyone will be taken to the boardroom where there will be a long meeting.

“You know, according to what we saw in the tunnel, before that interview, Ange Postecoglou went into the locker room and talked to the players, but he actually went to the other side of the tunnel area.

“We saw him come out and Edu was in the hallway as well. Ange Postecoglou left with his bag on his back and headed towards the parking lot. At that point, it looked like the writing was on the wall.”

“As far as we know, Ange Postecoglou has left the stadium or at least is not in the tunnel area. That is the latest information I can give you.”

Who will replace Ange Postecoglou at Nottingham Forest?

Insider’s Indy Kaira reports that Sean Dyche is the person Forest has approached him about the job.

Another name linked with Nottingham Forest is former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who is not expected to leave Celtic until the end of the summer.

The owner put himself on the spot as many believe he was responsible for the collapse of Nottingham Forest.

They had a great run under Nuno last season, with the Portuguese coach leading them to a seventh-place finish and qualification for the Europa League.

That hasty decision destabilized the club. Forest went through two managers within three months and lost any sense of identity or direction.

Marinakis must execute his next appointment properly, but more importantly, he must allow the new manager time to regain confidence and stability on and off the pitch.
