  • Ange Postecoglou hints at a possible return to Celtic
  • Ange Postecoglou’s past successes at Celtic

Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou was sacked after just 39 days at Nottingham Forest after losing 3-0 at home to Chelsea, resulting in an eight-game winless streak that included six defeats.

But his short and tumultuous spell in the Premier League, the shortest tenure as a permanent manager in Premier League history, has done little to diminish his standing at Celtic Park, especially given the growing uncertainty surrounding current manager Brendan Rodgers’ future.

Ange Postecoglou would “seriously consider” a return to Glasgow if the opportunity presented itself, according to a report from Football Insider.

The speculation has been further heightened by the prospect of Brendan Rodgers leaving Celtic at the end of the season on his current contract.

Rodgers has been linked with a return to the Premier League next season, and there are expected to be several vacancies. Crystal Palace could see Oliver Glasner leave the club due to his links with Manchester United. Fulham’s Marco Silva has also been linked with a move away from Craven Cottage next season, while Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola is also a sought-after player.

If management leaves, there could be an opportunity for Mr. Rodgers to take over.

Rodgers’ second season at Celtic Park has been a difficult one, with question marks surrounding the team’s European performance and ambitions and a growing sense that a farewell is inevitable.

Ange Postecoglou’s past successes at Celtic

The intense speculation surrounding Postecoglou’s return is rooted in the remarkable success he had in his first two years at Celtic, from 2021 to 2023.

Arriving as a player relatively unknown to many British fans, the manager quickly established a unique high-intensity attacking style known as “Enjiball.”

The former Tottenham manager won five domestic trophies during his tenure, including back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles and a historic domestic treble in his final season (2022-23).

His ability to revive the team and reconnect with the fan base has built a formidable legacy that ensures he remains a hugely popular name in Glasgow, despite recent struggles in England.
