  • Middlesbrough reach verbal agreement with Kim Helberg
    • What do Middlesbrough think about Swiss manager Raphael Wicki meeting at Riverside?

Middlesbrough’s search for a new manager appears to be over, but important updates have been revealed regarding the club’s process to replace Rob Edwards.

Edwards’ departure to Wolves hurt Boro at a crucial point in the season as they sit second in the Championship table and are aiming for promotion. He sent a message to supporters as he headed to Molineux, wishing the club every success.

“This was one of the most difficult decisions of my career. In fact, I never considered leaving Middlesbrough for another club. Wolves are a special club for me. It’s where I grew up as a player and coach, and it’s still the place my family calls home. It’s always been a dream of mine to come back and opportunities like this don’t come around very often.”

“Middlesbrough is a great club with great owners, staff and passionate supporters. I would like to thank everyone at the club for giving me the opportunity to lead this team. We have a great group of players who I really hope and believe will be successful this season.” I couldn’t be more proud of the environment we’ve built together, and the players, staff and fans who drive it, that everything has come together so quickly. We wish everyone at Middlesbrough all the best for the rest of the season and beyond. Rob. ”

Boro are currently in the midst of deciding who will replace Edwards at the Riverside Stadium, and it looks as if they have found their new boss following a new big claim.

Middlesbrough reach verbal agreement with Kim Helberg

According to Soccer SkanalenMiddlesbrough now believe Kim Helberg is suitable to replace Edwards and have reached a verbal agreement for her to join the club.

Boro appear set to pounce on Championship rivals Swansea City, with the club holding talks with Helberg’s representatives in London.

Helberg may be an unknown to some Boro supporters, given he is only 37 and has yet to manage in Europe’s top flight, but he looks like an exciting young choice.

IFK Varnamo’s sporting director Enes Ahmetovic, who has worked with the Swede in the past, said of him: “An incredibly skilled football coach. He spends an enormous amount of time on every detail. I am completely confident that Helberg will coach a much bigger club than IFK Varnamo.”

Playing in a 4-2-3-1, Helberg is something of a gamble at a time when promotion has to be the goal for Boro, but assuming he is the choice to join, it will be interesting to see how he does.
