Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Cole Palmer has suffered a new injury and is likely to miss the squad’s upcoming big games against Barcelona and Arsenal.

The Blues face Burnley in the Premier League in an early morning kick-off tomorrow, and Maresca spoke on a number of topics at this morning’s press conference.

The bit of bad news for Chelsea is that Palmer won’t be back tomorrow and is expected to miss the upcoming games against Barça and Arsenal as well, having hit his toe in an accident at home.

Check out the latest on Maresca’s Palmer injury from today’s press conference below…

Fans of the west London giants won’t be too happy to hear this news. Because Palmer is undoubtedly a very important player for Chelsea, even if they have coped quite well without him so far.

The England international was initially expected to return before too long, but Maresca confirmed it could take another six weeks.

Palmer’s injury appears to have been re-aggravated after hitting his toe at home, further delaying his return to the first team.

Palmer’s initial problem was the groin injury he sustained during the defeat at Old Trafford, but he will no doubt be frustrated having picked up another problem that delayed his return.

Maresca has some quality attacking players to choose from, including Estebao Willian, Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho, but there is no one like Palmer who is fully healthy and at his best.
