Liverpool faced PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League tonight and lost 4-1.

They have currently lost 9 of their last 12 official matches and have conceded 10 goals in their last 3 matches. It is no exaggeration to say that they are currently in a dire situation.

Hugo Ekitike injured

Arne Slott was unable to get the best out of his players, and the new players also had very disappointing results. Hugo Ekitike is the only player signed in the summer who has performed well since joining. The Dutch coach gave a worrying update about the France international after the match.

Slott claims Ekitike has sustained a back injury and it will be interesting to see if he is able to return to action soon. The last thing Liverpool want is to see their most talented attacker at the moment sidelined.

Slott told TNT Sports via LIverpoolFC: I felt like I couldn’t move like I did in the first half. I think that’s why our press team was a little off.

“And he told me that he was already feeling his lower back too much in the first five to 10 minutes of the first half. That’s also why he had to be sent off.”

Ekitike adapted well to the Premier League and made an immediate impact. His absence due to injury would be a huge blow to Liverpool. They are in desperate need of points right now, and their key players need to be in good condition and perform well.

The true extent of the damage is still unknown, but fans will be hoping that the French international will be able to return to action soon.
