The Milwaukee Bucks snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 116-99 win over the struggling Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night, highlighted by Giannis Antetokounmpo scoring 29 points and surpassing the 21,000 career point milestone. This achievement marks Antetokounmpo as the 42nd player in NBA history and the sixth youngest to reach this scoring milestone, accomplished midway through the third quarter with a three-pointer.

Antetokounmpo was highly efficient, shooting 12 of 15 from the field and collecting eight rebounds in just 19 minutes of play. Bucks guard Kevin Porter Jr., returning from an ankle sprain and meniscus surgery, contributed 13 points. Additionally, AJ Green scored 15 points and Bobby Portis Jr. added 13 for Milwaukee.

On the Nets’ side, rookie Danny Wolf registered a career-high 22 points, shooting 8-for-16 overall and 5-for-9 beyond the arc, while Jalen Wilson chipped in 13 points. The Bucks dominated the second quarter with a 39-24 scoring run and led 71-53 at halftime, extending their advantage to 92-60 early in the third quarter.

Brooklyn was missing key players, including top scorer Michael Cooper Jr., sidelined with back tightness, and starting guard Egor Demin, out due to a torn plantar fascia. Guard Cam Thomas, who averages 21.4 points per game, remains out with a hamstring injury.

Antetokounmpo had returned just the day before, scoring 30 points in a loss to the New York Knicks that knocked Milwaukee out of the NBA Cup.

Looking ahead, the Nets will host the Charlotte Hornets on Monday, while the Bucks travel to face the Washington Wizards.

Fan Take: Giannis breaking the 21,000-point mark is a testament to his elite status and consistency as one of the league’s greatest players. This game not only highlights his incredible skill but also signals the Bucks’ potential resurgence, which could intensify competition and excitement throughout the NBA season.
