Leeds United are currently reported to be prioritizing signing the South American defender ahead of Italian giants Juventus in the January transfer window.
Leeds still planning Farke’s replacement despite Chelsea’s win
The Premier League is a tough world. The pressure was mounting on Daniel Farke ahead of the game against Chelsea, but you wouldn’t have known it after his side’s impressive 3-1 win over Chelsea.
Reports leading up to the match claim the German had to avoid defeats against the Blues and Liverpool this weekend to ensure his job security. It seemed like an impossible task. Chelsea edged out Premier League leaders Arsenal with 10 men, while Liverpool remained champions despite a difficult period.
However, by Wednesday night, Mr Falke had not received any complaints. In his place was a tactical genius. His 5-3-2 system unexpectedly outclassed Chelsea and Leeds physically, resulting in an impressive 3-1 win at Elland Road.
It would be easy to think that Mr. Falke’s job is safe. But the BBC’s Sami Mokbel said people on Elland Street were still preparing for the worst-case scenario.
“Sources have told BBC Sport that the process has begun to identify a candidate to replace Mr. Farke. It is not uncommon for clubs to make succession plans for managerial positions, regardless of the job security of the incumbent.”
“However, Leeds’ poor form, which had fallen into the relegation zone before Wednesday’s win, has put significant pressure on Farke and is serving to amplify the club’s efforts to identify potential successors for the German player.”
It would be a cruel decision for the 49ers, but it may not be the only change along the way. Leeds have already set their sights on Real Betis star Nathan as the January transfer window approaches.
Leeds prioritize trade for Nathan
According to reports in Spain, Leeds are currently prioritizing signing Natan from Real Betis in the January transfer window. The Brazilian defender is valued at around €40m (about £35m) by the Spanish club and has also attracted interest from Serie A giants Juventus.
Leeds star looked ‘average’ this season but is now unstoppable
The Leeds star has shone in the past two games.
It’s clear why both Leeds and Juventus have targeted the 24-year-old. He has had an excellent start to the season and could secure a move in the new year or next summer.
League statistics 25/26 | Joe Rodon | nathan |

Statistically speaking, Natan will have no problem slotting into Falke’s best side. Compared to Joe Rodon, the South American improved in possession and was particularly impressive in the air.
The big question that remains is whether Leeds are willing to spend £35m on his contract. Georginio Rutter’s record signing fee still stands at £35.5 million, and it will take some effort to break that mark as early as the January transfer window.
