Several clubs are preparing to move Chelsea’s French centre-back Axel Disasi ahead of the winter transfer window.
Borussia Dortmund are looking to strengthen their backline early in the second half of the season, and Disasi’s profile, physical presence, aerial strength and ability to play from the back suit their needs perfectly. His contract runs until 2029, but his consistency in playing time and changing priorities at Chelsea means the club is willing to listen to offers and could leave in January.
Axel DiSasi is a player in demand.
This was revealed by a person close to the situation. catch off side Dortmund are not alone.
Galatasaray, Juventus, Newcastle United and West Ham are all looking to add experienced defenders.
Juventus could consider a loan deal with an option to buy to balance wages and amortization, while Newcastle and West Ham see him on a permanent deal and well suited to the physical tempo of the Premier League. Galatasaray could turn to DiSasi as a short-term solution with a chance to rebuild value if their main defensive target proves difficult.
Olympique Lyonnais are also considering a loan move during the African Cup of Nations in order to cover the depth of their squad. In that scenario, a short-term contract until the end of the season would be possible with a reasonable loan fee. Lyon’s decision will depend on DiSasi’s immediate availability and the financial terms of his wage distribution. Adding a buy option could give Chelsea flexibility in the summer.
A move to Newcastle could be ideal for Disasi
The French defender wants to compete at a high level and will aim to get his career back on track with regular football. Remaining in the Premier League could be an interesting option for him. Newcastle have an ambitious project and a quality team. They have the resources to compete regularly at a high level. They can be attractive destinations for players. It will be interesting to see if reasonable negotiations can be held with Chelsea towards signing the player.
Similarly, West Ham United need defensive depth and it will be interesting to see if they can persuade the player to join the club. They will also be able to offer regular opportunities to their £80,000-a-week star.
