Thierry Henry Reflects on Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool Missteps: “Team Loyalty Must Come First”

Former French national team star Thierry Henry has taken aim at Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah regarding his recent comments following the Reds’ 3-3 draw against Leeds United. After the match, Henry suggested that Salah’s reactions were misguided, despite the frustrations surrounding his limited playing time.

Salah, who made his second substitute appearance in three games on Saturday, has recorded seven contributions to goals but has had a turbulent season so far. Post-match, the Egyptian voiced his concerns about the club and head coach Arne Slot’s tactics, expressing a sense of betrayal. “I feel like the club has thrown me under the bus. It appears someone is attempting to shift all the blame onto me,” Salah remarked. He emphasized his previously strong relationship with the manager, which now seems strained, saying, “I don’t know why, but it seems like someone at the club doesn’t want me here… I can’t accept this situation. I’ve done a lot for this club.”

While Salah continues to train, he has been omitted from the squad for the upcoming UEFA Champions League match. His remarks have garnered substantial backlash, including criticism from Henry. “Nobody acknowledges what Salah has done in the game when he’s focused on his grievances publicly. When your team is facing challenges, those concerns should be discussed privately,” Henry asserted.

Henry equated Salah’s situation to his own experience with Barcelona during the 2009-10 season when he was excluded from the squad. “When I was at Barcelona, I didn’t voice those issues publicly, even when sidelined. My priority was the team,” he stated. He added that protecting team morale is crucial, expressing his disbelief over Salah’s public complaints about his playing time.

“It’s essential to safeguard your team at all times,” Henry stressed. “While I empathize with Salah’s frustrations, airing these concerns publicly was misguided and counterproductive. A coach seeks performance from players, and failing to deliver puts your position at risk—especially at a club like Liverpool.”

### Fan Take:
This news resonates with soccer fans as it highlights the often fraught relationship between star players and their clubs during challenging times. Salah’s outspoken nature could signal deeper issues within Liverpool, potentially affecting team dynamics and performance on the pitch this season.
