Tributes have poured in for former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, recognizing not only his racing achievements but also his significant humanitarian contributions within the North Carolina community. Biffle, 55, tragically died in a plane crash in Statesville, North Carolina, along with six others, including his wife Christina, their two children Ryder and Emma, pilot Dennis Dutton and his son Jack, and friend Craig Wadsworth.

Biffle, who earned 19 Cup race victories and championships in NASCAR’s top two developmental series, owned the Cessna involved in the crash. Apart from his racing career, he was passionate about aviation and actively participated in relief efforts during Hurricane Helen by flying helicopters to deliver aid to western North Carolina.

NASCAR honored Biffle as not only a skilled and formidable competitor but also a cherished member of the racing community dedicated to helping others. His numerous wins and championships in the Xfinity and Craftsman Truck Series, along with his efforts in disaster relief, left a lasting impact on the sport and the lives of many.

Numerous notable figures from the racing world and North Carolina expressed their condolences. U.S. Congressman Richard Hudson admired Biffle’s and his wife’s dedication to helping others, while North Carolina Governor Josh Stein also commented on the loss. NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Jeff Gordon, evangelist Franklin Graham, team owner Jack Roush, University of North Carolina athletic director Steve Newmark, and RFK Racing co-owner Brad Keselowski all shared heartfelt tributes. Keselowski recalled the deep respect for Biffle as both a champion and a competitor who shaped an era in NASCAR. Fellow racers and analysts, including FOX’s Clint Bowyer and racing legend Richard Petty, also reflected on Biffle’s influence and legacy.
