Authorities Indicate Mr. White Avario Could Surpass Mr. Prospector

White Avario is expected to participate in the Grade 3 Mr. Prospector Stakes, but a final decision on his entry has not yet been confirmed, according to sources from Horse Racing Nation and Daily Racing Form. Trainer Safi Joseph Jr. mentioned that they will likely make the call about running White Avario in the Mr. Prospector Stakes by Friday, noting the possibility of preparing the son of Raceday for the 1⅛-mile Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup scheduled for January 24th.

Last year, White Avario finished second in the seven-furlong Mr. Prospector before capturing the Pegasus World Cup title. The horse, owned by C2 Racing Stable LLC, Gary Barber, and La Milagrosa Stable LLC, has been off the track since placing fourth in the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup at Saratoga on August 31. He was scratched late from the gate at the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile at Del Mar on November 1 due to veterinary concerns.

C2 Racing Stables co-owner Mark Cornett expressed no concerns about White Avario coming back after the break but emphasized the team’s cautious approach to not rush the horse into competition. Cornett also noted that the horse’s future plans following the Pegasus World Cup remain uncertain, with retirement or continuing to race in his 7-year-old season both possible options.
