Jeremie Frimpong reportedly had already had the first part of a medical test with Liverpool after flying to the UK on Sunday.

Bayer Leverkusen’s right-back has emerged as Liverpool’s top transfer target this summer, and the deal appears to be nearing completion.

The Reds know they’ll lose Trent Alexander Arnold in the free transfer, so it makes sense that the exchange was snapped pretty quickly.

According to Sky Sports, Frimon already has some of his medical care after arriving in the UK over the weekend.

Now it is possible that the Netherlands International has completed all stages of his medical examination.

With Alexander Arnold gone, it’s hard to think of a better alternative to that right than Frimon.

Losing a key player like Alexander-Arnold is a big blow, but the LFC appears to be on track to snap Frimpong, an equally talented attacking outlet on that side of the pitch.

The 24-year-old played primarily as a wingback for Lebarkusen, managing a highly impressive total of 14 goals in all 2023/24 tournaments.

It would be interesting to see if Frimpong could replicate it in Anfield, but he should be suitable for Arne Slot’s side.

Slot was asked about Frimon’s signature after Liverpool’s defeat to Brighton yesterday, but perhaps he hasn’t confirmed anything yet…

These transactions take time and can always have a final gradual obstacle, so it’s probably right to pay attention to coming out and announce something before the club gives the official green light.

Still, it seems likely that it’s only a matter of time before Flimon was announced by Liverpool.
