Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby reached a significant milestone on Sunday against the Montreal Canadiens by surpassing Mario Lemieux to become the Penguins’ all-time leading scorer. However, Crosby isn’t slowing down; he added another point during Tuesday’s 6-3 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

By assisting Brian Rust’s goal in the first period, Crosby notched his 1,080th career assist, moving ahead of Adam Oates to claim eighth place on the NHL’s all-time assists leaderboard. He now needs just 30 more assists to surpass Joe Thornton, who holds seventh place.

At 38 years old, Crosby has tallied 645 goals and 1,725 points in his prestigious NHL career. If he maintains his current pace, he has a strong chance to move into sixth place on the NHL’s all-time scoring list this season and could also climb to sixth in career assists. So far this season, Crosby has recorded 20 goals and 38 points in 36 games.

Sidney Crosby, standing alone at the peak of Penguins history, continues to set new standards of greatness and has officially overtaken NHL icon Mario Lemieux for the franchise’s most points.

Fan Take: This milestone is a testament to Crosby’s enduring excellence and consistency, inspiring fans and players alike. His pursuit of all-time records not only enriches his legacy but also elevates the stature of the sport, showcasing the impact a single player can have on hockey history.
