During the 2025 WNBA season, the Indiana Fever faced significant setbacks as they lost several important players to injuries, including Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham, Aari McDonald, Chloe Bibby, and Sidney Colson. Cunningham, McDonald, and Colson each had to undergo surgery, which ended their seasons prematurely.

Sidney Colson’s injury was particularly serious; she tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee during a game against the Phoenix Mercury on August 7. She had surgery to repair her knee nearly two weeks later. Shortly after the operation, Colson surprised her teammates and fans by joining an Instagram Live session. Nearly four months later, Colson appears to be recovering well.

In a recent Instagram update, Colson revealed she can now run again. She shared a video featuring a clip of young Forrest running from the movie “Forrest Gump,” followed by footage of herself running on the basketball court. She captioned the post, “4 months post-op.”

The Indiana Fever and her teammates were thrilled to see her progress. The team cheered her on with messages like “Go Sid Go,” referencing Forrest Gump’s famous line. Teammates Aliyah Boston, Chloe Bibby, Damiris Dantas, and Brianna Turner all expressed their excitement and pride.

Colson looks poised to return in time for the start of the AU professional basketball season in 2026. She, along with other Fever players such as Odyssey Sims, Bree Hall, and Brianna Turner, participated in the upcoming tournament scheduled for February.

Fan Take: This update is a beacon of hope not only for the Indiana Fever but for WNBA fans everywhere, highlighting the resilience and determination of players recovering from serious injuries. Colson’s comeback story underscores the growing professionalism and competitive spirit within the league, promising an exciting season ahead.
