Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has all but confirmed that a deal has been reached for the permanent transfer of Rasmus Hejlund from Manchester United, describing the move as a “formality” following the striker’s impressive loan spell in Italy.

The Denmark international joined the Serie A champions on loan last summer after falling through the ranks at Old Trafford.

Since arriving at Napoli, Rasmus Heilund has revitalized his career under manager Antonio Conte, scoring decisive goals and helping to maintain Napoli’s momentum towards the title.

Now, it looks like his time as a Manchester United player is officially over.

In an interview with Italy’s Corriere dello Sport, Manna revealed the club’s clear intention to exercise the option to buy the 22-year-old.

Asked directly if Hoylund’s permanent move to Napoli was just a formality, Mana replied: “As of today, I think so.”

Manna also shed light on the competitive race to sign the striker during the summer period. “We did everything we could to sign him,” he said. “There were more historic clubs interested, but his will is very important and we are proud of it.”

The manager revealed the terms of the deal, which reportedly includes a fee of around £38 million.

“If we qualify for the Champions League, we have the option and obligation to buy.

“The players think of themselves as Napoli players, and so do we. This is very important.”

Manchester United would also be happy to sign him.

Hoylund’s transfer to Serie A was the catalyst for a major turnaround in his form.

After struggling for consistency in the Premier League, the Dane rediscovered his deadly touch in Italy, scoring nine goals in 20 appearances in all competitions.

His recent brace in the 2-0 win over Cremonese underlined his growing confidence, with manager Antonio Conte praising his ability to retain the ball and coordinate play, which has often been noted in England.

Scott McTominay also played for Napoli after leaving Old Trafford.

Hoylund is not the only former Red Devil to flourish in Napoli. Midfielder Scott McTominay has also become a fan favorite at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Since his permanent move from Manchester United, McTominay has played a central role in Napoli’s midfield engine room, adding physicality and goals.

The reunion of the two former United team-mates is a great achievement for Napoli, with both players looking much more settled in Serie A than they were in their final months in Manchester.
