The Rainbow 6 jackpot, with a 20-cent entry, is expected to reach approximately $425,000 as the championship resumes on Thursday, featuring a 10-race card. The first race will start at 12:20 p.m. ET.

Thursday’s Rainbow 6 covers races 5 through 10, including two turf races. Race 6 is an optional contest for older Florida horses sprinting five furlongs on grass. Among the contenders is Sticky McShnickens, who has placed second or third in 11 of 17 starts and is seeking his second win. Trainer Kent Sweezy’s Quizle will make his stakes debut in this race; the novice, absent since November 7th, aims for his seventh career win.

Race 9 includes an optional allowance for older mares and fillies racing one mile on the main track. Sherbini, who placed third in the 2024 Spinaway (G1), returns after a break since last May, marking the first start for Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher. Domino Vitali, who impressed with a win over older horses at Tampa Bay Downs on November 28th, will also compete. Godolphin’s home-bred Contrary recently finished second in a seven-and-a-half-furlong race at Churchill Downs on November 12th.

The finale, Race 10, features new sophomore fillies running five furlongs on turf in an optional claiming race, with 11 entrants including defending champion Epic Lady Luck, Nonna’s Love, Pulstar, Chucky’s Ride, and Vividal, who finished second in last spring’s Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies on Gulfstream’s turf.

For the Rainbow 6, the jackpot is only awarded if a single unique ticket wins all six races. If no unique tickets emerge, 70% of the day’s pool is returned to the top-winning bettor, while the remaining 30% rolls over to the jackpot. The jackpot has gone unresolved for seven consecutive days following multiple payouts of $2,390.64 on December 21st.

Thursday’s card will also feature a Super Hi-5 carryover totaling $28,542.86.

Fan Take: This Rainbow 6 jackpot push highlights the excitement and challenge of hitting a multi-race sequence, offering big rewards and intense competition. For horse racing fans, these events showcase rising talent and seasoned horses alike, fueling interest and growth in the sport’s fanbase.
