The Ottawa Senators aim to build on their recent progress in the NHL standings as they prepare to host the Detroit Red Wings on Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. ET, broadcast on Prime. The Senators have won their last two games and are notable for holding a positive point differential, a feat only matched by the Atlantic Division leader, Tampa Bay, despite Ottawa being second-last in the division rankings.

As the Monday game tips off, just eight points separate all eight teams in the Atlantic Division, highlighting the tight competition. Both Ottawa and Detroit have recorded similar results recently, each with six wins, three losses, and one draw over their last ten games.

On Saturday, the Senators secured a 4-2 victory against the Winnipeg Jets, while the Red Wings fell 4-1 to the Pittsburgh Penguins, managing only 12 shots on goal. Detroit is looking to boost its offense by recalling John Leonard from the AHL, where he ranks second in goals with 20, trailing just one behind Artur Kaliyev from Ottawa’s top AHL affiliate in Belleville.

Tim Stutzle of the Senators aims to extend his point streak to 13 games, though he still trails behind Danny Heatley’s previous performance and has a few more games to match last season’s record.

As the Sens reach the halfway mark of the season, Levi Melilainen got off to a strong start with a goal. The team’s lineup configuration includes forwards Zetterlund, Stutzl, Giroud; Tkachuk, Cozens, Batherson; Graig, Pinto, Amadio; Cousins, Halliday, Perron; defensemen Sanderson, Zab; Chabot, Jensen; Cleven, Spence; with Sailor and Shepherd, and Steve Warne in goal.

For hockey fans, it’s exciting to watch emerging talents like Stutzle and Leonard make their mark, signaling growth and competitive spirit that could reshape the league’s landscape.
