  • Who is Mor Ndiay?
  • Liverpool could lose Marc Gehi

Liverpool are reportedly close to completing a deal for highly-rated Senegalese defender Mor Ndiaye, according to the latest reports from Merseyside.

According to Liverpool Echo journalist Paul Gorst, the Reds are “closing” for a left-sided centre-back. He recently caught the eye of scouts when he coached Senegal at the Under-17 World Cup in Qatar.

The deal with Ndiaye is reportedly in the final stages. Once completed, the teenager is not expected to join Arne Slott’s first team immediately. Instead, he will continue his development by linking up with Rob Page’s Under-21 team.

Ndiaye’s arrival could trigger a loan move for another talented defender, Amara Naro.

Speaking to X, a reliable Liverpool correspondent said: “Liverpool are close to signing left-sided centre-back Mor Ndiay, who recently played for Senegal at the Under-17 World Cup in Qatar.

If the deal goes through, he will join Rob Page’s U21 squad. Amara Naro was set to go on loan if an agreement with Ndiay were reached. ”

Who is Mor Ndiay?

Mor Ndiay is considered one of Senegal’s most promising defenders.

A left-sided centre-back, he combines physical strength and ball-playing ability, a highly coveted profile in modern football.

His performance at the Under-17 World Cup in Qatar greatly enhanced his reputation, highlighting his aerial superiority, reading of the game and composure under pressure.

Liverpool’s move to sign Ndiaye is seen as part of a long-term strategy to secure their defensive future after recently agreeing to sign 17-year-old Ifeanyi Ndukwe.

Liverpool could lose Marc Gehi

While signing Ndiaye is a boost for the future, Liverpool’s pursuit of immediate defensive reinforcements has hit a potential roadblock.

The Reds have long admired Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehy but now face stiff competition.

Manchester City have emerged as favorites to sign Guehi following the injury crisis at the Etihad, according to reports.

With Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol both facing sidelines, manager Pep Guardiola could force a move for the England international, taking over one of Liverpool’s key long-term targets.
