Manchester United are reportedly set to have a face-to-face meeting with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tomorrow, according to reporter Chris Wheeler.
Wheeler posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Solskjaer will be the second candidate to speak to Manchester United manager Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox.
See Wheeler’s post below for more information. United appear to finally be close to resolving their financial situation as they bring in an interim player to replace Ruben Amorim…
“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have a face-to-face meeting with Manchester United on Saturday. Please understand that Michael Carrick has already met with CEO Omar Berrada and DOF Jason Wilcox,” Wheeler posted.
Amorim was sacked by United earlier this week and former player Darren Fletcher was brought in as interim manager.
The former Scotland international took charge in the Red Devils’ 2-2 draw with Burnley, but it appears the club will consider someone else to replace him for the remainder of the season.
Manchester United’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or Michael Carrick?
Solskjær appears to be alongside Michael Carrick as the main candidates to be Old Trafford’s interim manager, but it will be interesting to see who the club settles on.
One of Solskjaer’s advantages is that he was also United’s manager and got a good start there, even if the results did not go well for him.
The Norwegian tactician has top-level experience that Carrick lacks, but in many ways it could be worth signing a player who brings something different.
Solskjaer has had his problems as United manager and it could be interesting to see how Carrick fares in the job after an impressive spell as manager of Middlesbrough in the Championship.
However, it currently appears that a new caretaker manager will not be called in time for MUFC’s FA Cup match against Brighton this weekend, with Fletcher set to take the reins.
