Palmeiras are interested in signing Wolves attacker John Arias.

The player has been linked with a move away from the Premier League club this month, with the Brazilian club reportedly preparing to offer him a contract. However, according to a report from Globo Esporte, Fluminense could have a say in any potential transfer. Although Arias only recently left Fluminense, his contract includes a priority clause and the club could consider exercising the option should Arias return to Brazilian football.

Fluminense president Mateus Montenegro has confirmed that the club may consider the player’s return. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop.

“As for Arias, he’s a player who left here a while ago. It’s a conversation that happens often,” he said. “We knew there was interest from Palmeiras and other clubs. There’s always interest from clubs all over Brazil. He’s a great player. He’s a great player.”

“But there is a priority clause in the contract with Arias. We need to be notified. Our plan is to exercise that priority,” he revealed. “We don’t know the value yet, but we have plans to exercise it. We don’t know the value, so we can’t guarantee whether we will exercise it, but we have plans.”

Wolves are currently fighting to remain in the Premier League. It remains to be seen whether they are prepared to let the Brazilian leave the club midway through the season. That could be a devastating blow to them. If we want to play next season, we need to start scoring points. They are currently at the bottom of the league table.

Arias is a talented player and could be useful for the Timberwolves later in the season. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop.
