  • Spurs aim to replace Frank after West Ham defeat
  • ‘Really impressive’ Glassner could be an exciting replacement for Frank
        • Frank’s woes worsen after Tottenham star found to be ‘limping’ after West Ham defeat

Tottenham Hotspur are currently hoping to sign a “very impressive” manager to replace Thomas Frank.

Spurs aim to replace Frank after West Ham defeat

Manager Fabrizio Romano admitted Frank was in real danger of being sacked as Tottenham manager following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at London rivals West Ham United, saying: “Yes, Tottenham have sought to show their support for Thomas Frank by appointing former Liverpool assistant Arne Slott John Heitinga as a new member of their backroom staff this week.

“So we’re showing our support with a beautiful photo with another addition to our behind-the-scenes staff, Thomas Frank and John Heitinga.

“But at the weekend, on Saturday, Tottenham lose again. Now the situation is very complicated for Thomas Frank at Tottenham and his job is in serious jeopardy. So let’s see what happens in the next few hours and days.”

It was another disappointing performance for the Lilywhites, with an xG of 1.44 compared to the visitors’ xG of 2.69, with Frank’s side currently 14th in the Premier League.

So it’s no surprise that the Danish player is under pressure, with it recently revealed that USMNT manager Mauricio Pochettino is being considered as a possible replacement, but the Argentine is not the only one on the shortlist.

According to reporter Alan Nixon (via GiveMeSport), Tottenham want to sign current Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner, with the Austrian recently confirming he will leave the Eagles at the end of the season.

Mr Glasner has since criticized Crystal Palace’s board, with Mr Nixon revealing there is a belief within his current club that Mr Glasner may be planning a move elsewhere.

However, the 51-year-old’s contract is not due to expire until the summer, so Spurs will have to pay compensation if they want to sign him immediately.

‘Really impressive’ Glassner could be an exciting replacement for Frank

Frank has privately praised the palace boss in recent weeks, saying in December: “I think Oliver has done the best job at Palace in many ways, which is really, really impressive.

“We have a clear identity as a team. We defend low, very compact, very difficult to break down, incredibly good on the counter. We’re probably one of the best teams in the league. We’re also very good at set-pieces, we’re one of the best at corners, we’re one of the best at long throws, we’re also very strong at set-pieces.”

The Spurs may have injury concerns.

This praise is well deserved, given that the former Eintracht Frankfurt manager led Palace to the club’s first ever major trophy last season, winning the FA Cup with a 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the final.

Glasner, who favors a 3-4-2-1 system, has stabilized the Eagles in the Premier League, with the team finishing 10th in his first season and 12th last season.

The Palace manager, who also won the Europa League in 2021-22 with Eintracht Frankfurt, is experienced and could be an exciting replacement for Frank.
