  • Nottingham Forest loan terminated
  • Zinchenko’s time at Arsenal is over

Oleksandr Zinchenko is set to leave Arsenal, with Ajax agreeing to sign the Ukrainian international on loan, effectively ending his Premier League career.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano gave the deal his trademark “here we go” and confirmed that Oleksandr Zinchenko will fly to Amsterdam in the next 24 hours to complete medical tests ahead of his transfer.

Ajax have reached a verbal agreement with Arsenal for a loan move until June, with the Dutch giants expected to pay Zinchenko’s full wages for the remainder of the season.

Mr. Romano reported to X:

“Ajax have verbally agreed a contract to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from Arsenal. Let’s go! He leaves Nottingham Forest with an agreement on loan until June. Zinchenko will be flown for the next 24 hours to undergo a medical test in Amsterdam. Ajax will cover his wages and the deal will be finalized.”

Nottingham Forest loan terminated

The move to the Eredivisie came after Zinchenko’s difficult loan spell at Nottingham Forest came to an early end.

The 29-year-old, who joined the Midlands club in the summer in search of regular first-team football, struggled to make much of an impact at the City Ground.

According to reports, Zinchenko has found it difficult to cement his place in the starting lineup under Forrest, with his contribution limited due to injuries and inconsistent form.

The loan, originally scheduled to last until the end of the season, was shortened to facilitate this new opportunity.

Ajax moved quickly to secure his availability, with the Amsterdam club reportedly agreeing to cover his full salary for the remainder of the season. A verbal agreement has now been reached, and preparations are underway for the contract to arrive in the Netherlands.

Zinchenko’s time at Arsenal is over

This latest development signals what is likely the final chapter of Zinchenko’s Arsenal career.

His contract at the Emirates Stadium is due to expire in the summer of 2026, and this loan move effectively means his contract with the Gunners has come to an end.

Since joining from Manchester City, Zinchenko initially played a pivotal role in Mikel Arteta’s tactical evolution, particularly with his ability to transition from left-back to midfield.

However, the rise of Myles Lewis-Skelly and the impressive form of Riccardo Calafioli has taken him away from Areta’s plans.

A move to Ajax would provide Zinchenko with a fresh start and a chance to showcase his technical qualities in a league that historically emphasizes possession-based football, and could put him in the window for a permanent transfer this summer.
