  • Loaning Alejandro Garnacho could be a smart move for Chelsea
  • Chelsea’s ruthless approach to the transfer market

Negotiations are reportedly at an early stage regarding the potential loan move of Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid.

According to a report from BBC Sport at the time, the Argentina international only joined the Blues during the summer, joining from Manchester United for £40 million.

Still, Garnacho’s future may already be in some doubt, with Atlético Madrid coach Diego Simeone said to have approved a possible loan move, according to Fichajes.

Whether Chelsea agree to this remains to be seen, but it’s safe to say that Garnacho has blown it cold and hot at Stamford Bridge, and in many ways looked like a bit of a risky signing from the get-go.

Garnacho has had his share of problems at Manchester United, but he’s been in his career for some time now and it’s easy to forget he’s only 21 years old.

Chelsea could benefit from keeping the youngster on loan for a while, allowing him to gain experience and develop a bit before returning to west London as a better player.

At the same time, CFC has previously indicated that if they regret bringing in Garnacho, they may be ready to pull the trigger immediately upon the player’s arrival.

Chelsea’s ruthless approach to the transfer market

Last season, Joao Félix joined Chelsea in the summer but didn’t last long, moving to AC Milan on loan in January before joining Al Nasr on a permanent basis last summer.

In the same season, Renato Veiga also joined in the summer, left midway through the season and moved to Juventus on loan, before joining Villarreal permanently this season.

Meanwhile, Facundo Buonanotte joined Leeds on loan from Brighton a few months ago, but his loan has now ended early and he has joined Leeds instead.

If this report is to be believed, the same thing may be about to happen to Garnacho.
