Argentina’s Angel Cabrera completed the final round, delayed by 64 weather on Monday morning, winning the first major of the PGA Tour Championship season in regional tradition.

Cabrera played par 4 16th on Sunday, earning Jerry Kelly and Jerry Kelly at age 18 when officials stopped the round due to darkness at Greystone Golf & Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama.

Cabrera birthed the 16th of the par 4, then pulsaved on par 3 17th on par 3 and finished at 20 under, birding par 5 18th on Monday.

“It was a great day,” said Cabrera, 55.

Cabrera resumed his career after spending time in prison on assault charges between 2021 and 2023.

Cabrera, who won the US Open in 2007 and the Masters in 2009, said she didn’t imagine returning to the level of the lifting trophy any time soon.

“No, I didn’t know I was going to arrive there,” Kabella said after completing his final round with nine birdies and one bogey. “I always thought I would do that, but I didn’t think it would be that fast.”

Kelly finished his birdie bogey bye di on Monday, finishing 19 under with a 68 card. Yang also bogeyed No. 17 before birdie and 68 moved to 18 under.

Steven Alker (68) finished fourth with a 17 under. Two shots behind and tied them in fifth place were Chris DiMarco (69), Stephen Ames (68) of Canada and Charlie WI (70).

The Senior PGA Championship begins Thursday. The regional tradition is one of five senior majors that do not offer entry into similar tournaments on the PGA Tour.
