Chelsea and Aston Villa are reportedly among the clubs eyeing a deal for Ibrahim Mbaye in the January transfer window.

According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, there is strong interest in PSG’s talented youngster, but his club would ideally want to keep him.

Mbaye has not been able to get much playing time at the Parc des Princes due to fierce competition for a position within coach Luis Enrique’s team, but his potential is highly regarded.

Chelsea are known for targeting top young talent like this, and Plettenberg told X that the Blues were “delighted” to sign the 18-year-old forward.

“Several Premier League clubs want to sign Ibrahim.” #Mbae before the deadline. For example, Chelsea and Aston Villa are monitoring him closely,” Plettenberg said.

“but, #PSG I want to keep him. New contracts are also possible. I have no plans to let him go at this point. The promising 18-year-old winger is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2028. ”

It will be interesting to see how this plays out, as the club may be sensing an opportunity to sign Mbaye if he does not agree to a new contract.

At the same time, convincing PSG to do business with the Senegalese international, who is under contract until 2028, is likely to prove difficult.

Should Ibrahim Mbaye decide to move to Chelsea or Villa?

Mbaye appears to face an uphill battle to play regularly at PSG, and a move elsewhere could be good for his development.

Perhaps the teenager can hold out a little longer and challenge for a place at his current club, but chances at Stamford Bridge or Villa Park could come sooner rather than later.

It could be a wise move for him, as Chelsea are focused on acquiring the best young players in the world and giving them playing opportunities.

Meanwhile, Villa are also building an exciting squad and there should be more room for him than many of the biggest names in European football.
