Megan McPeek, a reporter for Monumental Sports Network, is leaving her role at Versant to become the WNBA’s new play-by-play announcer as the league prepares to broaden its media coverage ahead of the 2026 season. Currently, McPeek serves as the play-by-play voice for the Washington Mystics and sideline reporter for the Washington Wizards at Monumental Sports Network. She has been with the network for seven years, initially announcing for the Capital City Go-Go before taking on her current duties with the Mystics and Wizards.

You can catch her call of the move Thursday night alongside Wizards & Mystics Studio analyst Wes Hall below.

Starting in 2026, the WNBA will launch a new media rights deal with Amazon and Versant, which is the successor to Comcast’s cable channels such as USA, CNBC, and MS NOW (formerly MSNBC). Below, you can find McPeek’s first post on X about this announcement.

Fan Take: This change is a huge step forward for the WNBA, as bringing in a seasoned announcer like Megan McPeek can enhance the viewer experience and attract more fans to the sport. With the new media partnership expanding the league’s reach, this move signifies growing recognition and investment in women’s basketball, promising exciting growth for the WNBA’s future.
