  • Roll aims to sign new players before transfer deadline
        • Tender: Rangers submit low offer for out-of-contract star
  • Rangers and Celtic battle for Premiership star

Rangers are keeping a close eye on the attacker, who has multiple suitors ahead of the transfer deadline on February 2nd.

Roll aims to sign new players before transfer deadline

Rangers were on an eight-game winning streak before losing 3-1 to Porto in the Europa League. After Russell Martin’s disastrous reign, Danny Rolle has completely reinvigorated the Gers and reignited their title contention with arch-rivals Celtic and league leaders Hearts.

Rangers flourished in the first transfer window under Roll’s guidance. Winger Andreas Skov Olsen joined the club on loan with an option to buy from Wolfsburg, while midfielder Tochi Chukwani and left-back Tuer Rommens also moved to Ibrox from Sturm Graz and KVC Vesterlo respectively.

Tender: Rangers submit low offer for out-of-contract star

The Gers need to raise their bids immediately…

As further arrivals to the Rangers continue to be hinted at, Mr Roll hinted that he expects more bodies to arrive before the window slams shut.

”I have a number in my head. (Chairman) Andrew (Cavenagh) knows that, and employers know that. There are moments when you think yes, and then there are moments when you think yes. But overall I think there should be a fair number of players at the end of the window. ”

Based on what we’ve tracked so far this month, it’s clear Rangers want to strengthen their hitting options as they look to the end of the campaign. The club are currently rumored to be interested in one of Scotland’s best-performing forwards.

Rangers and Celtic battle for Premiership star

Rangers’ arch-rivals Celtic are rumored to be linked with a move for Kasper Ho later in the season. However, since then, Norwich City have also been floated as a potential destination for Ho, with Bodault/Glimt scoring in both Champions League games against Manchester City and Atletico Madrid, which could have boosted their stock.

According to Sportboom, Celtic are keeping a close eye on Motherwell’s Tawanda Maswanhise as a replacement for Ho, but Rangers could spoil the party as they consider a move of their own.

According to reports, signing Maswanhise would cost around £5 million, and such a sum would make the Zimbabwean one of Rangers’ most expensive signings in history.

Maswanhise moved to Scotland from Leicester City in 2024 and has enjoyed a fantastic development at Motherwell. He has 17 caps for Zimbabwe and has scored four goals and provided one assist in four competitive games since returning from the African Cup of Nations.

With 11 goals in 20 Premiership games, Maswanhise is tied for second in the league’s scoring list this season, having reached that tally in fewer games than Lawrence Shankland and Benjamin Nygren, who also scored 11 goals. The 23-year-old has shown he can be a consistent goal threat in Scottish football’s top flight, something Rangers’ current striking options are perhaps lacking.

Youssef Cermiti, who joined from Everton in the summer, certainly has potential, but he is not a reliable goalscorer at this stage of his career. Meanwhile, Bojan Miovski has struggled to find the form he showed at Aberdeen since returning to Scotland from Girona.

It remains to be seen whether a deal is finalized, but it is certainly a sign that the Rangers want to continue their stellar run under Roll.
