After some surprising rumors during today’s round, David Ornstein has reported on Sandro Tonali and Arsenal.
Ornstein recently confirmed in an article on X that Arsenal are considering signing Tonali after receiving an offer for the Newcastle United midfielder.
But so far there seems to be no contact regarding this potential deal, making the final hours of this transfer window seem impossible…
Ornstein said: “Sandro Tonali has made an offer to Arsenal through his agent, so… #AFC I searched but couldn’t get in touch with Newcastle United. Nothing happens in this window. The 25-year-old’s camp presented the idea to Andrea Berta and researched the players he was interested in. #NUFC It is no longer possible to leave.”
Sandro Tonali transfer to Arsenal could make him a player to keep an eye on in the future
Interestingly, Ornstein has made it clear that Tonali is a player to watch, which likely means Arsenal will look at the Italy international again in the summer.
For now, this looks like an impossible deal, and one imagines Newcastle would be completely reluctant to let go of such an important player.
Tonali has shone during his time at St James’ Park and it is easy to see why a big name like Arsenal would be interested.
The Gunners have just lost Mikel Merino to injury and lack depth behind Declan Rice and Martin Zvimendi, so Tonali could be an ideal option.
Sandro Tonali’s departure is a big blow for Newcastle
Newcastle lost Alexander Isak in the summer and will no doubt not want a big story like this to happen again in the coming months.
The Magpies have built a very promising team under Eddie Howe, qualifying for the Champions League again last season and reaching the knockout stages of this term’s competition.
Still, with Arsenal currently favorites to win the Premier League and on the brink of reaching the Carabao Cup final, it’s easy to see someone like Tonali seeing it as a step up.
