Arsenal have reportedly won the race to sign Stoke City’s Jayden Dixon, with Chelsea also interested in the 18-year-old defender.

This comes from the Telegraph’s Sam Dean, who posted on X his understanding of the Gunners’ pursuit of Dixon.

It was reported on Deadline Day that Arsenal had agreed a deal for Dixon, and Dean said Chelsea were also fans of the England youth international.

Dean also revealed the player’s transfer fee, although the signing has not yet been officially confirmed by the club, so please see below for further details.

“I have heard that Jayden Dixon will join Arsenal from Stoke City for a fee of around £500,000. Chelsea were also interested in signing the 18-year-old England youth international,” Dean wrote.

Arsenal delay in signing as Chelsea miss out on top prospect

Arsenal fans will no doubt be pleased with this smart business of bringing Dixon in at such a cheap price, even though he looks like a player whose value will surely increase significantly over the next few years.

Jayden Dixon at Stoke City

The teenager has shown great potential at Stoke and it’s no surprise that this was a deal that Chelsea were very keen on as well.

The Blues have a policy of recruiting the best young players from English football and around the world, and Dixon appears to be a good fit.

Arsenal fans will now be hoping that Dixon’s signing will be made official soon and that he can make an impact for the first team in the near future.

We’ve seen Mikel Arteta give a lot of chances to top young players recently, even if they’re unlikely to become regulars right away.
