Aston Martin has become the final Formula 1 team to unveil the livery of its 2026 race car. The eagerly awaited AMR26 was presented on Monday evening at a season launch event in Saudi Arabia, sporting the iconic ‘Aston Martin Racing Green’ to honor their title sponsor, Aramco.
The car first grabbed attention when it appeared with a blacked-out look during a private shakedown in Barcelona at the end of January. This vehicle marks Aston Martin’s first F1 car designed under the guidance of famed designer Adrian Newey at their cutting-edge technology center in Silverstone. It is also their inaugural model powered by a Honda engine, following an exclusive partnership that elevated Aston Martin to full factory team status.
Coming off a disappointing 2025 campaign where the team finished seventh in the constructors’ standings with 89 points, Aston Martin aims to bounce back stronger. The driver lineup remains unchanged with two-time world champion Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, the team owner Lawrence Stroll’s son, returning for another season.
Lawrence Stroll, Aston Martin’s chairman, described the AMR26 as “a crucial step” as the team enters a transformative era in F1 with 2026’s sweeping regulation changes. He emphasized that every decision is deliberate and aimed at building a race-winning outfit supported by top-tier partners like Honda, Aramco, and Valvoline. With the completion of the AMR Technology Campus, Aston Martin believes it now has the infrastructure, talent, and investment needed to compete with the sport’s elite.
Newey highlighted the unique challenges posed by the simultaneous changes in chassis and power unit rules, explaining their focus on a “holistic approach” rather than a single standout feature. He stressed that the AMR26 aims for strong fundamentals, room for development, and consistent performance extraction from both Alonso and Stroll.
The veteran Alonso praised Newey’s determination and competitiveness, calling this season a thrilling new chapter for the team as they adapt to new rules and technologies. He acknowledged the team’s shared ambition to improve, expressing excitement about testing in Bahrain and pushing for greater competitiveness.
Fan Take:
Aston Martin’s official livery reveal signals more than just a fresh look; it represents the team’s serious intent to challenge the status quo in F1’s new era. With a top-tier designer, a factory engine deal, and strong driver lineup, fans can expect tighter competition and thrilling battles on track in 2026.
