  • Aston Villa agree to personal contract with Pervis Estupinan
        • Ibrahim Mbaye agrees to leave PSG as Man City move to take over Aston Villa

Aston Villa have agreed a deal for Wolves star Joao Gomez and Fabrizio Romano’s latest claims suggest they could be closing in on Pervis Estupinan.

Villa would be making a smart, low-risk move by bringing Estupinan back to the Premier League.

The Ecuador international already understands the speed and physical demands of English football, while Unai Emery knows exactly what he can offer after working together at Villarreal.

With Lucas Digne joining PSG, Villa need a replacement who can attack aggressively without leaving their defense exposed. Estupinan looks ready for the role.

This agreement appears to be an important step forward.

According to Romano, Villa have agreed personal terms with Estupinan, who wants to move to Villa Park.

Football Fancast Verdict

reliability

Fabrizio Romano is one of the most established transfer reporters in football, having direct contact with clubs, agents and executives. His information is usually most powerful when personal terms and negotiations are involved. This latest information is also backed up by reports in Italian and English, which explain that negotiations between Villa and Milan are progressing.

finances

Milan are reportedly seeking a transfer fee of around £17m after signing Estupinan from Brighton for around £14m in 2025, but Villa could offset much of that cost with Digne’s £10m departure. A negotiated price close to Milan’s initial investment would represent reasonable value for a proven Premier League full-back.

insight

Estupinan is at his best when he can attack space from deep positions. He carries the ball powerfully, overlaps with speed and delivers dangerous crosses, but also has the recovery speed needed to defend. His previous work under Emery should help him quickly understand Villa’s structure and positional responsibilities.

impact

Estupinan could replace Digne without forcing Villa to change their style. His pace will stretch opponents and provide new routes into the final third. His familiarity with Emery should also speed up his integration into the team.

Negotiations with AC Milan continue as the club aim to settle a transfer fee, with manager Emery personally keen to make the 28-year-old his first choice as a new left-back.

Some reports suggest that negotiations have reached an advanced stage.

Milan are thought to want around £17m for the 28-year-old, but Villa are keen to find a compromise below that amount.

Digne’s £10m move to PSG will help finance his replacement and create space in Emery’s squad, and the appeal of Estupinan is clear.

He made a name for himself in the Premier League with Brighton, becoming one of the division’s most dangerous attacking full-backs with his speed, overlapping runs and powerful crosses.

His first season at Milan was inconsistent, with just 19 Serie A appearances and 13 starts, but the quality Villa needed was still clear.

The move will reunite him with Emery.

The two worked together at Villarreal, where Estupinan helped the Spanish club achieve success in Europe. That existing relationship should shorten the adaptation period and give Villa confidence that the player understands the manager’s tactical demands.

It’s not the only big deal moving quickly, with Villa also targeting former Spurs midfielder Joao Parinha, showing Emery still wants more experience and bite before the deal closes.
