Los Angeles superstar Shohai Otani can’t stop him with a batter’s box, but fans are still waiting for him to return to the mound in 2025.

Baseball business president Andrew Friedman has provided the latest update on Otani’s pitching debut.

“We’ll continue and continue for next week or two, but everything is moving in the right direction and at some point it starts to accelerate,” Friedman said. “I don’t know when exactly.”

The have three starters who opened the season in an injured list rotation. Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow and Kinosaki Shiroki are all on the sidelines and will not return to the bump for a while.

The depleted ‘ rotation could use Otani as a starter, but the have made abundantly clear that the team is not in a hurry to return the two-way star to the mound. He is not expected to make his pitching debut until after the All-Star break.

Like fans, manager Dave Roberts expressed his excitement to see Otani Pitch. However, the team delicately handled slow progression.

“I’m trying to ease that because we know we’re very systematic in this. Clearly,” Roberts said earlier this month. “But yeah, when you look at your arms and see what he can do, you’re a bit – I put my head down instead of the way he can help us now.
