Leeds United have held talks to sign the ‘outstanding’ forward sensation in a bid to prevent him from signing with Arsenal, according to a new report.
Leeds return to action against Birmingham in the FA Cup
Daniel Farke’s side will be looking to build on their momentum after a glorious 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, a result that left talkSPORT’s Jason Cundy completely “furious” as he taunted the Whites.
The Whites head to St Andrew’s looking to progress after snatching a valuable point from a two-goal deficit at Stamford Bridge.
Lucas Nmeka’s penalty and substitute Noah Okafor’s controversial equalizer, which appeared to hit Jayden Bogle’s elbow in the build-up, extended Leeds’ survival cushion six points above the Championship trapdoor.
Last Friday’s win at Forest proved important for Farke’s side.
Jayden Bogle and Okafor scored within four minutes of the first half, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin expertly scored his 10th league goal of the season to seal the three points and lift Leeds into 15th place.
Saturday’s cup match will be a welcome new opportunity to build further momentum ahead of important matches against Aston Villa and Man City.

He didn’t hold back.
Birmingham are a winnable opponent and Leeds will be given a chance to regain their confidence while pursuing a silver medal alongside their fight for survival.
But while the club’s push to stay in the Premier League dominates the headlines, Leeds’ recruitment department continues to work tirelessly to identify future talent who can strengthen the squad.
Leeds hold contract talks with Blackburn Rovers sensation Igor Tyjon
The Yorkshire side are firmly in the increasingly crowded race to sign Blackburn Rovers sensation Igor Tygeon, according to journalist Graham Bailey and TEAMtalk.
The 17-year-old forward is one of England’s most promising striking players despite only making three senior appearances for Blackburn.
His prolific form with the Under-21s, with nine goals in 22 games, has been widely praised by the Premier League giants, who are keen to recruit elite youth talent.
Arsenal emerged as early favorites, submitting multiple bids in excess of £1m throughout the January period, but Blackburn repeatedly rejected them.
The Gunners remain determined to secure Tyjohn’s development and are planning a new summer approach once his scholarship expires at the end of the season.
However, Bailey also reports that Leeds have held talks over Tyjon’s contract and revealed their plans for the teenager in a bid to prevent Mikel Arteta from joining the team.
Falke’s reputation for developing young attackers, as evidenced by his past success with Norwich, could be attractive to Taijon, who is looking for solid development rather than languishing in a mega-club’s academy system.
Man United’s recent managerial turmoil following the sacking of Ruben Amorim could also benefit Leeds’ pitch.
Tyjon’s performances in February have continued to impress scouts and he was previously dubbed Lancashire’s “outstanding” young player.
Last month, he showed clinical decisiveness when he headed home the fourth goal during Blackburn’s 5-0 win over Birmingham.
It remains unclear whether Tyjon will choose Elland Road over a bigger stage, but Saturday’s game against Birmingham is Leeds’ chance to prove they are building something worth attending.
