  • Amid financial uncertainty, Palace focus on signing new players
  • Philogene could be an exciting signing for Palace
        • After leaving Crystal Palace: ‘World class’ star worth more than Eze and Wharton

Crystal Palace are currently preparing to make a formal bid for the ‘special’ forward, but could have to pay a huge fee to get the deal done.

Amid financial uncertainty, Palace focus on signing new players

Oliver Glasner has admitted he intends to leave Selhurst Park at the end of the campaign, but the Austrian recently revealed he has no intention of changing his mind.

With Glasner set to leave the club, Palace have begun searching for a replacement, with Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank, who was sacked earlier this month, also being one of the leading candidates.

Frank is not the only option, with the Eagles also keen to appoint former England manager Gareth Southgate, but it remains unclear whether the 55-year-old would be willing to return to club management.

It remains unclear who will be in the dugout at Selhurst Park next season, but amid uncertainty over Adam Wharton’s future, recruitment teams have begun considering targets ahead of the summer transfer window, starting an investigation into signing Liverpool’s Curtis Jones.

Crystal Palace have also set their sights on a new forward, with Crystal Palace emerging as one of the frontrunners in the race for Ipswich Town star Jayden Philozine and are preparing to make a formal bid, Sports Boom reports.

Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United are also in contention for the forward, with Ipswich planning to pay at least £45m, and his value could rise to £60m if promoted to the Premier League.

Known for his blistering speed, Philogene is expected to command a contract worth £80,000-a-week, meaning the deal could be expensive and Ipswich are in a good position to negotiate as he is under contract until 2029.

Philogene could be an exciting signing for Palace

The Eagles have had great success in acquiring players from the Championship in the past, selling Eberechi Eze and Michael Oliseh for big fees, and there are indications that the 24-year-old could sign a similar type of player.

After leaving Crystal Palace: ‘World class’ star worth more than Eze and Wharton

Crystal Palace have had some top players in recent years and this former star player could be the one to take the crown.

Hailed as a “special” player by Liam Rosenior, the left-winger played a big role in the Tractor Boys’ promotion push this season, scoring nine goals and providing two assists in 25 appearances in the Championship.

The former Hull City player was also in the spotlight in the 2023-24 Championship season, scoring 12 goals against Rotherham United and finding the back of the net with a superb rabona.

Philogene could now be ready to make the step up to the Premier League, but paying £45m for a player who has yet to prove himself at the top level would be a steep price to pay.
