  • Salah is a Liverpool legend
  • Saudi Pro League could be Salah’s next destination

Liverpool could face one of the most important decisions of their time this summer, with uncertainty growing over Mohamed Salah’s future.

According to Football Insider, the club could be open to letting the Egyptian superstar leave if he receives a lucrative offer from the Saudi Professional League.

The face of Liverpool’s attack for nearly a decade, Salah remains one of the most iconic figures in the club’s recent history.

But with the forward approaching the final year of his contract and entering the latter stages of his career, Liverpool’s bosses must decide whether to extend his stay or start planning for life after the legendary number 11.

Salah is a Liverpool legend

Since joining from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has broken Liverpool’s modern record records.

His debut season saw him score an astonishing 44 goals in all competitions, setting a new benchmark of 38 Premier League games and establishing himself as one of the world’s elite attackers.

Over the next few years, he played a central role in Liverpool’s most successful period in the modern era.

Salah won the Champions League in 2019, helped the club win the long-awaited Premier League title in 2020, and consistently finished among the league’s top scorers.

However, the 2025/26 campaign proved even more difficult. While Salah can still have moments of brilliance, he has not consistently matched the exceptional standards he set early in his career.

The Saudi Professional League has been pursuing Salah for several years. In 2023, Al Ittihad famously rejected a £150m offer from Liverpool in the final stages of the transfer window.

The Saudi club’s financial strength has only increased since then, and signing Salah is expected to spark renewed interest.

With 12 months remaining on his contract this summer, Liverpool’s sporting department is likely to decide on Salah’s departure.

Keeping Salah would keep them a proven match-winner and leader in the dressing room, but they also risk losing him for nothing in 2027.

A sale now could generate significant cash while cutting one of the club’s highest wages.
