Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka feels in his heart that Arsenal could be a good move for him, says Christian Falk in his latest column for CF Bayern Insider.

Goretzka is nearing the end of his time at Bayern and will become a free agent this summer as his contract is set to expire.

Arsenal had shown an interest in the experienced German international in January, but it seems the player was keen to see his contract through to the end and finish the season at the Allianz Arena.

However, things should change this summer, with Arsenal looking likely to sign Goretzka as long as they have made an offer for him.

Christian Falk talks about Leon Goretzka’s move to Arsenal

“It’s true, Arsenal are currently leading the race to sign Leon Goretzka,” Faulk said.

“From Goretzka’s point of view, this is certainly true. Although the Gunners did not make an offer in January, they have shown that they are aware of the fact that Goretzka is considering a move away from Bayern.”

“There were very specific discussions with Atlético Madrid. The sporting director was in Munich. The player’s goal is to move to the Premier League. He wants to play for Arsenal. Of course, we cannot guarantee that Arsenal will come back in the summer with a concrete offer.”

“In his heart he feels this is his next perfect club. He loves the Premier League and I heard his style of play suits English football.”

“But he is not focused on one club and only one club this summer. If Arsenal are there, he will be happy to sit down at the table and listen to offers. Tottenham are also interested and that could be an option, but Spurs are not as attractive an option as Arsenal at the moment. Arsenal are playing very well at the moment and they are in the Champions League.”

“It would be great for Leon Goretzka to win the Champions League with another club, so we’ll have to wait and see if Arsenal make an offer!”

Leon Goretzka could give Arsenal midfield depth

Arsenal have a strong squad this season, but one area where they are perhaps lacking a bit is in central midfield, so Goretzka could play a key role.

Thomas Partey and Jorginho left at the end of last season, and although Mikel Arteta brought in Christian Norgaard from Brentford, he has barely featured this term.

Martin Zvimendi and Declan Rice are clearly Arsenal’s first-choice partnership, but they could use more rotation options and an experienced player like Goretzka would seem ideal.
