Despite losing in the playoffs, the 2024-25 season was an overall success for Piston. Detroit tripled its number of wins since the 2023-24 season. They went 44-38 this season.

It was All-Star Cade Cunningham, the first time he’d led the team all year round. He enjoyed the best season of his NBA career and was one of the top PGSs in the league. On Friday, the NBA will announce players who have selected All-NBA. If Cunningham is one of them, he’ll line up on a massive payday. His salary will increase by $9 million per season in his next extension.

During the 2024-25 regular season, Cade Cunningham began a career-high 70 games for the Pistons. The 23-year-old enjoyed the best season of his fifth year in his professional career. He averaged a career-high 26.1 points and 9.1 assists per game. Plus, his 35.0 minutes per game was Cunningham’s new personal best. On Friday, the league will announce the All-NBA for its first, second and third teams.

If Cunningham is one of 15 players, he’s lined up on a serious payday. As it stands, the one-time All-Star is subject to a five-year, $224 million extension. That deal will begin at the beginning of next season. With the All-NBA choice, its expansion will increase over five years to $269 million. Cunningham would make more than $9 million per season if he was in the All-NBA in 2024-25.

Cade Cunningham is a franchise player for Pistons and he is a basic piece. Detroit has built a solid team around the All-Star PG this past season. The team is still $68.5 million under the $195.5 million threshold for the first apron of luxury tax. Dennis Schroeder, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Malik Beasley are unlimited free agents this offseason. Who will the Pistons take home?
