‘From what I’ve heard…’ – Newcastle have delivered an important message regarding potential £70m forward move

Newcastle United have been warned against spending big on a potential move for Chelsea misfit Nicholas Jackson this summer.

The Senegalese international is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, but he has not been able to produce consistent performances at Stamford Bridge and has not made a particularly positive impact there.

It currently appears highly unlikely that Bayern will make Jackson’s move permanent, with speculation rife as to which club could sign the 24-year-old this summer.

The Magpies are one of the teams rumored to be linked with Jackson, even if many fans find it hard to think of anything else other than figuring out how to buy Champions League tickets for Newcastle vs Barcelona.

Nicholas Jackson warns Newcastle to move

Of course, the transfer market never sleeps, so Newcastle, like many other clubs, will already be considering their summer targets.

Jackson could probably be one if Eddie Howe wants to add more depth up front, but Mick Brown told Football Insider he doesn’t think it would be a good move for NUFC.

Not only is it expensive, Brown said, but he’s also heard that Jackson doesn’t have a great attitude, so it certainly seems like something to avoid.

“He doesn’t have the consistency in front of goal that Newcastle need at the moment,” Brown said.

“That’s their challenge this season, consistency, and Jackson is not someone who goes to St James’s Park and becomes the answer to everyone’s problems.

“From what I hear there are some question marks with his attitude, but they’ve been there since his time at Chelsea and I think that’s a big reason why they let him go.

“What kind of money will Chelsea be asked to pay? I think it was around £70m to £80m last summer, will it be around that again?”

“So if Newcastle want to sign a new striker, I don’t think Jackson is the player they’re going for because it’s going to be expensive and I don’t think he’ll solve their problems.”

After selling Alexander Isak to Liverpool last summer, Newcastle signed Nick Woltemaid and Yoan Wissa, and it seems certain that they will be in the market for more signings this summer.

Woltemade started well but has declined in form, while Wisa arrived injured and hasn’t been able to make the impact he hoped for, but he can certainly aim higher than Jackson, who failed at both Chelsea and Bayern.
