West Ham United are tipped to have Jarrod Bowen and Crisencio Summervilla both set to leave the club even if the Hammers avoid relegation.
This season has struggled to find stability, with the Hammers suffering relegation throughout the season.
As a result, clubs feel they have a chance to steal key players from the Hammers, with the future of some key players in doubt.
Relegation is very likely this season, but Keith Wyness believes Bowen and Somerville will leave the club and take new challenges elsewhere even if they remain in the Premier League.
West Ham United given a warning
Former Everton CEO Wyness believes the Hammers will be proactive in making big changes to the team in the summer transfer window.
He said on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast: “I think Bowen and Somerville were already talked about moving in January and I’m sure they’ll be moving in the summer.
“So West Ham will be a very active club in terms of restructuring their squad, no matter what division they are in. And I would also add that West Ham have never been very good in terms of establishing a stable sporting director position and group.”
“There always seemed to be friction with the manager, but it never worked out. And in terms of the team’s performance now, it’s coming back home. And again, does that mean they really have a coherent strategy for the summer?”
“This club is in serious trouble at the moment and there are some deep-seated problems up top. So we’ll see how they get through this relegation battle. But certainly, financially and football-wise, there are some big question marks right now and some big red flags flashing.”
Bowen and Somerville face uncertain futures
Bowen is West Ham’s talisman, their captain and arguably their most consistent performer. He has a long-term contract until 2030, which protects his value.
But as an established England international, playing Championship football is completely out of the question.
Aston Villa have reportedly begun making initial inquiries about his summer slot.
If West Ham manage to survive, they will likely demand an astronomical ‘free’ fee to even consider releasing him. However, if the club is relegated, a large-scale transfer battle is expected.
Somerville was in great form in the second half of the 2025/26 season, scoring important goals and, along with Bowen, being much of West Ham’s attacking threat. This purple spot naturally led him to attract the attention of some of the top clubs across Europe.
However, like Bowen, if relegation were to occur, Somerville would be one of the first teams to step in to fill the financial gap that would result from a divisional relegation.
