  • Caicedo was a great signing for Chelsea

Chelsea have officially announced that Moises Caicedo has signed a new long-term contract extension, ending months of speculation and cementing his place as the cornerstone of the club’s midfield until June 2033.

The 24-year-old Ecuadorian international, who has become an integral part of manager Liam Rosenior’s side, penned a revised seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge on Friday.

The deal is an important show of confidence from both player and club owner and rewards Caicedo for his excellent recent performances that have helped the Blues win the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup.

Moises Caicedo: “My dream is to become a Chelsea legend”

After putting pen to paper, Caicedo expressed his deep commitment to the west London project on the club’s official website.

Despite the team currently sitting sixth in the Premier League and going through a period of transition, the midfielder insisted he would not want to be anywhere else.

he said:

“I’m very happy to extend my contract with Chelsea. I believe in this team, this club and I know we’re moving in the right direction. We’re only just getting started together.”

“There is still a lot to achieve. I am very hungry to keep improving every day. I want to win more trophies with Chelsea and give everything for this club and the fans.”

The contract extension is also a big boost for Chelsea as they fend off interest from Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants reportedly had Caicedo at the top of their summer wishlist, along with Alexis Mac Allister.

By securing his future for the next seven years, Chelsea have ensured that their midfield engine room continues to be supplied by one of the game’s elite talents into the prime of his career.
